Winnebago County Fair, Wisconsin SHOWCASE: Cloverbud (grades K5-2nd) and Exploring (grades 3rd-5th)

The “Cloverbud” and “Exploring” Departments at the County Fair are for younger youth who are still exploring their interests and trying out new skills. These departments give elementary age youth a chance to share a wide variety of exhibits with a judge to discuss their work and help develop their talents.

CLOVERBUDS: ALL youth who are in 5 year-old Kindergarten through 2nd grade must show in the Cloverbud Department. The term “Cloverbud” comes from the 4-H program whose emblem is a 4-leaf clover. During a traditional fair, youth meet “face to face” with a judge and receive a participation ribbon for each of their exhibits. Judges are local community volunteers who meet with each youth individually during pre-fair judging days.

EXPLORING: Youth in 3rd – 5th grades can exhibit in the Exploring Department in addition to other specific Departments (Foods, Art, Photography, Animals, etc). Beginning in 3rd grade youth now earn ribbons according to their placing (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th) during a traditional fair. The Exploring Department gives youth the opportunity to continue trying out a variety of interests before entering in other, more competitive Departments.

Check out the accomplishments of these talented youth in 2020!
